That...Yes, I have perspective on while I sculpt. That's because you'll see the finished piece in perspective. Without it, as you noticed, it looks really strange! With the "virtual cameras" of software you can vary the field of view. Which is an additional challenge. I'm never sure what the virtual camera is doing matches the reality of the human eye. Or if in fact one's real field of view varies from person to person. I sculpted some portraits recently with perspective off, which looked great in ZBrush, but then looked very odd when they went into Blender.
Is this a similar issue when it comes to printing?
Thank you. I think it would involve (for the most part) doing a sort of mirroring or subtracting maneuver to get the negative needed to make this illusion work. 3d print it and voila you got it!MChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06776569164671445354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5861237338972566400.post-92051172835209899242017-05-07T23:15:42.917-04:002017-05-07T23:15:42.917-04:00Thanks. Photographs really make it tricky because of the distortion introduced by the camera.

I've used Shapeways.com a few times to 3D print. They can print in wax and then cast it for you in a variety of materials including brass.

It's quite easy to do a 3/4 relief. Simply rotate the piece so the view you want is aligned with a particular axis (say X). Then scale down in X only. This pushes the 3D form into a relief. Try it out.
